Support (BLS, American Heart Association) - Registered in Computed
Tomography (CT, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) -
Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT, Nuclear Medicine
Technology Certification Board) - Registered in Radiography (R,
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Must-Have:
Certificate of Completion from Radiologic Technology Program or
College Diploma in Related Field Job Description: - Provide
diagnostic Computed Tomography Services to inpatients, outpatients,
and Emergency Department patients under the direction of the
supervising radiologist in accordance with established operating
procedures and clinical protocols. - Ensure safe, prompt,
efficient, and cost-effective CT Services. - Position patients
correctly, utilizing proper immobilization techniques. - Perform
optimal scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and
protocols based on patient diagnosis, history, and other relevant
clinical information. - Use correct technical factors in accordance
with the American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines to use the
lowest amount of radiation to get a diagnostic scan. - Conduct CT
angiography, 3D, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPR's, along with
post-processing of computer data to enhance exams for radiologist
interpretation using reconstruction software suitable to the
pathology or region of interest. - Follow correct CT Department
Technologist workflow, including selecting the correct scan room,
identifying and documenting two forms of patient identification,
acquiring history, verifying orders, scanning patients, sending
images to PACS, scanning all paperwork and data sheets, completing
cases in Meditech, addressing quality assurance issues, charging
for contrast media and supplies, verifying all images and data are
sent to PACS, and ensuring the number of images is correct, and
verifying exams with images and archiving images on scanner. -
Operate support equipment for CT such as independent workstations,
pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems. - Initiate IVs for
administration of contrast media for CT in accordance with
department policy and utilizing standard precautions. - Prepare
patients for exams by explaining procedures and encouraging
questions, while answering any questions the patient may have. -
Transport patients to and from departments when necessary and
assist in the transfer of patients on and off the CT table, while
continually monitoring patient condition during CT procedures. -
Collaborate with radiologists in tailoring protocols to meet
patient exam requirements. - Refer difficult complaints or
sensitive issues to department management. - Document and charge
for supplies used during the performance of exams or procedures. -
Document confidential patient history to ensure the appropriateness
of exams and contrast media. - Record patient charge data,
modifying and initiating charges as procedure modifications are
made by the radiologist or ordering physician. - Document any
allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences and
initiate incident reports regarding staff or patient situations. -
Maintain license and continue education requirements. - Administer
contrast media after proper patient screening, ensuring the proper
exam is being administered, and consulting providers as needed.
